HELMEPA’s Scholarships for 2020-2021
HELMEPA continues to support young scientists in their effort to obtain further educational qualifications for their personal development as well as for the benefit of society, by awarding scholarships for postgraduate studies in the maritime field and that of environmental sciences. The 3 new scholars for the 2020-2021 academic year will be added to the 43 young people, who since 1998 have received HELMEPA scholarships for studies at well-known universities in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Canada, France, Spain, Cyprus and Greece.
Honoring the memories of the late George P. Livanos, Founder of HELMEPA and Captain Vassilis C. Constantakopoulos, Honorary Chairman, the Board of Directors, having examined the 34 high-quality submitted entries, decided to award the scholarships of €30,000 in total for postgraduate studies, as follows:
The “George P. Livanos” scholarship is awarded to Mr. Panagiotis Krontiras, graduate of the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, for the acquisition of an MSc in International Shipping and Finance at the University of Reading, UK.
The “Captain Vassilis C. Constantakopoulos” scholarship, is awarded to:

- Nefeli Kassari, of the Biology Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens for an Interdepartmental MSc in Environmental Biology at the University of Crete, in collaboration with the Hellenic Center for Marine Research and
- Anna Mourtsiadi, of the Department of Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrisn University of Athens, for an MRes Green Chemistry: Energy and the Environment at the Imperial College London.
